Sites of Kemang

Erik took some time this morning to take a few pictures around Kemang. We have lots of pictures of all the places we have traveled but only a few of the area we have spent our days over the last 3 years.

The following pictures show some things I will truly miss {like the culture and the people} and some things I will definitely not miss {like the trash and the smells} ...

Looking out toward the southwest side of Jakarta from the 1st floor of our school

Sites along a road that we have walked many a time

Bajaj - I will miss and I will not miss these 3 wheeled vehicles. They have provided lots of laughs as we have putted along with 3 people crammed in the back and they have provided a dry ride home when there were no taxi's in site. Sadly, they also provide the air in Jakarta with a lot of pollution.

A nearby mosque. I will not miss the call the prayer, but I hope I always remember how lost many of the people of this city are. God is here in Jakarta and he is always working.

Sewage water :/

Skyscrapers overlooking the older part of the city

That green and white bus is called a Kopaja - it is the public transportation bus

Trash that has been burnt, or that is waiting to be burnt. Will not miss.

Sidewalks are often left incomplete or they are so poorly made that they end up looking like this

A food cart serving soto ayam aka chicken soup. Erik I never really braved the street food, but I will miss them - nothing like it in the US.

Our school and apartment in the back there

This guy saw Erik taking pictures, and wanted one with him.
I am truly going to miss the people of this place. They may not plan things the way we think makes the most sense, but they are genuinely kind and they are beautifully made.

You're the God of this City
You're the King of these people
You're the Lord of this nation
You are

You're the Light in this darkness
You're the Hope to the hopeless
You're the Peace to the restless
You are

There is no one like our God

For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City
Greater thing have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City
